Description: The Indiana National Guard petitioned the FAA in October of 2004 and again in January and April to propose additional MOA's around Jefferson Proving Ground and Camp Atterbury in southern Indiana. They are adding 1100 square miles of area from 500' to 18000' in various different configurations. Although as pilots we can legally fly through these MOA areas, it is every man for his own in trying to be aware of other aircraft. With most of our planes being fabric or small in size, they do not show on radar. Also, the F-16's flying at over 500 MPH are not the most visible planes for us to observe. The INNG indicated to the Scottsburg group that they would be raising the deck to 4000' MSL in all areas but they declined this in this last proposal. We will again write the FAA on behalf of the club and this updated letter will be posted. Please urge your fellow pilots and those affected by this MOA to write the FAA by May 31, 2005 with their comments. The attached sample information is for your review and use. |
